Gynecomastia or Male breast or Man boobs
This problem can be socially embarrassing for men as well as professionally uncomfortable. Dr. Rajat S. Gupta understands that people suffering from this may be depressed, due to social embarrassment may not be actively involved in outdoor sports activities like swimming etc, may not be able to wear tight fit clothes and may be feeling dejected about it. However, you are not the only one suffering from it as the percentage of people suffering from it is nearly upto 30-40% in different populations. So, one may call it just a small abnormal variation during development of breast in childhood through adolescence. However there may be other causes leading to its development also like, intake of some medicines, drugs and some other systemic diseases as well. It would be prudent to get an appointment fixed with Dr Gupta to rule out other causes and get rid of this socially embarrassing problem as quick as possible that too without leaving any tell tale signs of the procedure!
1. Who should consider surgery for Gynecomastia?
If you are not comfortable to remove shirt in public, to swim, to participate in outdoor sports or gym
If you want to improve your body contours
If you want to buld up your confidence
2. What will be the scars like?
It depends on the magnitude of your problem. On most of the patients scars are usually less than 5mm on hidden areas. For a very severe problem scar may be bigger around the areola (dark skin around the nipple) so that it is also hidden and camouflaged. Following surgery you will have nice contour without obvious scars so that you can have the confidence to go out in public removing your shirt and participate in outdoor activities like swimming etc
